I don't think the experiment 'failed'. It simply proved that it is
possible to have organisations get into certain habits and persist
with those habits long after the original reason for those habits.

A perfect eample of this is a weekly meeting we have scheduled
internally for 10:15 AM and ending at 11:30 AM on Fridays. It is,
literally, the only regularly schedule meeting that is scheduled at a
time that is neither on the hour nor on the half-hour.

The reason? About 6 years ago (and way before I joined the company),
the meeting ws new and it got shifted around a few times until all the
people at THAT TIME found a convenient start time.

There is no real reason for that behaviour to persist today. But it
still does :-) Almost everyone from that original set has moved on to
other responsibilities - and yet it persists.
