Verdict is Yours : 69To continue with exploding a myth called Mahatma
...........
6) Gandhiji's fanatical adherence to non-violence culminated
in giving advice to Hindus not to use force even in self-
defence, i.e. even when attacked by Muslims. What he
clearly meant to suggest to the gullible Hindu masses
was that they should be ready to be killed rather than
harm the attackers determined to kill, because in his
opinion violence was not permissible even in self-defence.
That is why he, the de facto dictator of the Congress
rejected the resolution of the Gaya session of Congress,
which permitted the use of force in self-defence to the
Congressmen. This mismove of Gandhi gave muslims
a licence to kill. Obviously he saw nothing wrong in it.
7) Gandhiji's insistance on the doctrine of non-violence at whatever cost and
human toll so much obsessed the minds of Congressmen that in the Congress camp,
a soldier was cursed as sinner and a petty spinner was nursed as a saviour of
nation, protector of mankind !!!
8) As the independence came within sight, the Muslim League stepped up bouts of
violence on innocent people,
mainly the Hindus and Sikhs, particularly in provinces where muslims formed
majority. As natural reaction, the RSS and Hindu Mahasabha were preparing
themselves for a fitting backlash but Gandhiji was determined to thwart their
efforts.
On 6 th May 1946 while talking to Socialist workers he said : '' We shall then
pitch our non-violence even against League's violence. We shall settle with
League by offering our innocent blood to be spilt without spilling and we will
succeed.'' Thus credulous Hindus felt confounded and confused, bewildered,
bamboozled and brain-washed and above all divided over the course of action to
be taken in a contingency situation, suffering heavy losses whenever communal
trouble erupted.
More on Mahatma's heroics in the next mail.
