Simple answer - it is called real politik.

US arm-twisting. India wants something nukillar from the US (as Bush
would put it) and the US said they wouldn't entertain the request
unless India voted as the US dictated.

You give some - you get some :-)

Ooohhh - but that was already stated quite clearly in the article. So
what part of the article was not clear to you?
