Friends, Mumbaikars, countrymen,

The Mumbai Central project completed its one year of existence on Sept. 27, 1997.
What started as a list of Mumbai-related sites has grown into a vibrant, on-line
microcosm of the phenomenon that is the city of Mumbai.

In addition to the site index, the Mumbai Central site now features various
topical message boards, a mailing list (nukkad) and access to BSE quotes
along with daily BSE and NSE market summary.

As a part of our service to the community and the city, two non-profit
civic organizations from Mumbai are also hosted on the site. I Love Mumbai
and Forum Against Drugs now call Mumbai Central home.

On our first birthday, we are happy to announce two new sections on the site.
One section contains phone numbers of various services (police, fire brigade,
hotels etc.) in the city as well as long-distance train timings and taxi
and auto-rikshaw fares. All this information can be found at
http://www.mumbai-central.com/imp_info/.

The other section will feature original creations from fellow Mumbaikars.
We start this off by serializing a humorous novel by the late Prof. M. A.
Majmundar, a great master of the English language. If you would like your
creation (prose, poetry and anything in-between) to be featured in this
section, let us know. This new section is called likhaai
and we welcome your feedback.

We have only to thank all of you who wrote to us with ideas and
suggestions and kept the enthusiasm on. You are all responsible for the
long hours of work and countless late nights spent in working on the site
and adding new features to it over the past year. The missed movies and
frustrated friends are also entirely your fault. And we loved every minute
of it. We would not have missed it for the world. Thanks.

Who would have thought that two guys with a deep bond with the city and
a bit of spare time could do all this?

Thanks to everyone who helped us come this far. Your bouquets and brickbats
helped us learn and refine our efforts. We hope you will stick with us as
we grow further and become a true on-line mirror of that fascinating place
that brings us together - Mumbai.

Thanks a million,

- Harshal and Ninad, the guys at Mumbai Central.

P.S. The more people know about this project, the more useful and valuable it
will be.
So, please help spread the word about Mumbai Central and let other
"lost" Mumbaikars on the internet find their new home -- Mumbai Central.
And keep that feedback flowing. Peace.
